EXHIBITION BY SASA TKACENKO – FABRIC
- Exhibition of Fabric (Jul. fabric) presents the results of research process sets of public space, which visual artist Sasha Tkachenko began during six week stay in New York in The International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) and implemented in the Dimitrije Basicevic Mangelos Award for year 2013.
- The exhibition articulates Tkačenkovo study of space, at first conducted through short sequence, video clips of New York streets architecture scenes, shot in night time, which has developed in the study, including more than a hundred Polaroid photos. Tech limited opportunities of Polaroid photos (low sensitivity of photo lenses and the controlling the outcome of the photographic process was impossible) with the adverse conditions of night lighting, he served as an adequate framework for treatment of sight and his translation into the picture. As a result, there was a series of Polaroid photographs that abolish vision of American flag crucifixion (one of the dominant marker of public space in this city, it substantially affect object space planning and its appearance), narrowing down to a level of destabilized object, at the same time describing its materiality.
